Butt-weld Fittings that we manufacture are typically Lap-Joint Stub Ends and Butt-weld Crosses.
Some people also consider Fittings to include 45 degree Laterals, and True Wyes. Laterals and True Wyes are actually intersected-welded pipe. They look like fittings. Many people think they meet A 234 WPB; THEY DO NOT. These are also NOT covered by B 16.9. They are rated at 40% of the maximum allowable working strength of the material they are made from. At times, upon request, we can offer these fittings X-rayed and reinforced to 100% working strength.
Again, Fittings are offered in most all alloys. They are primarily done in carbon, but also in stainless, nickel alloys, as well as chrome molly.
